Caleb Pykkonen is a Colorado-based painter who has spent nearly his entire life in Boulder, where the Front Range, shifting light, and open spaces continue to shape his work. Currently a law student, Caleb began painting during the COVID-19 pandemic as a creative outlet — a practice that quickly grew into a passion and an essential counterbalance to the rigor of legal study.

An avid outdoorsman, his interests include skiing, hiking, fishing, and camping, and much of his inspiration comes from road-tripping throughout the western United States. These travels — from quiet mountain towns to remote desert highways — frequently find their way into his paintings.

Starting with acrylics, he soon found his voice in oil paint, drawn to its depth, texture, and capacity for subtle atmosphere. His work is rooted in landscape, but he avoids staying in one lane, regularly pushing into new techniques, palettes, and styles as a way to keep learning and evolving.

Whether capturing familiar Colorado scenes or places discovered along the road, Caleb aims to create paintings that feel lived-in — moments of stillness shaped by curiosity, discipline, and a love of process.
