Michelle Chen

Michelle Chen is an accomplished fine artist and dedicated art instructor. She is a proud member of the Oil Painters of America, Figurative Expressions, and the Mississauga Watercolour Society.

Her passion for fine arts began at the age of thirteen, when she started formal training in painting. Deeply fascinated by the beauty of form, light, and color, Michelle dedicated much of her youth to developing her skills through continuous practice and self-study. She later earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Nanjing Art University, where she received rigorous academic training in classical drawing, oil painting, composition, and art history.

During her university years, Michelle not only refined her technical abilities but also began to explore her own artistic voice. Her academic foundation laid the groundwork for a lifelong pursuit of excellence in fine art. Even while working professionally as a graphic designer for over a decade, she remained actively involved in painting and continued to expand her knowledge through workshops, exhibitions, and mentorships with established artists.

In recent years, Michelle has returned fully to her roots in fine arts and now works as a full-time painter and art educator. Her artwork covers a wide variety of subjects, including figures, portraits, still lifes, and landscapes. With an inherently optimistic outlook, she favors vibrant colors and expressive brushwork that bring a sense of energy and emotion to her paintings.

She continues to evolve as an artist by participating in juried exhibitions, plein air competitions, and national art shows, while also sharing her passion through teaching and mentoring students of all ages.
