Often with painting I set up challenges. The thought was if I paint the same thing everyday, I will improve. First of all I got bored after about 10 days. I changed colors and techniques. Second I couldn’t do a painting a day. I had other things to do! And didn’t want to have a gazillion unfinished paintings, so I allowed myself as much time as I wanted. When I was done with my self-imposed contest and saw all the paintings together and in order, I was surprised I did not see improvement. What I did see was variety with colors and different approaches. That’s not what I expected, but it made me happy. Often with painting I set up challenges.
