In this piece, I wanted to capture the simple joy and nostalgia that something as ordinary as a chocolate chip cookie can evoke. The warm, golden tones of the cookies contrast against the stark black-and-white newspaper, creating a playful tension between the fleeting comfort of a sweet treat and the permanence of printed words. I used thick, textured brushstrokes to give the cookies a sense of depth and richness—almost as if they could be picked right off the canvas. The scattered crumbs and cascading composition add a sense of movement, as if these cookies have just been poured onto the surface, inviting you, the viewer to indulge. The choice of newspaper as a background wasn’t random; I had been meaning to try it for a while. I wanted to see how it brings an unexpected narrative element, encouraging curiosity about the words hidden beneath. I hope this piece is perceived as a visual treat and a moment of pause—a reminder to find joy in life’s simplest pleasures. Let me know if you'd like to see additional pictures. Thank you! ---- This is an original work of art by Bhavna Misra. Painted in bold brushwork in her signature style.
