Spring is a good time to paint outside before it gets too hot. This is a plein air painting. The hope is that by observing nature and painting on the spot that color will be more sensitively seen than by looking at a photograph. Also, liveliness and freshness can happen when there isn't time to fuss too much over details. I got the title from a line in a Joni Mitchell song, Refuge of the Road. This painting is unframed.
