I sometimes look for rural churches when scouting places to paint because their parking lots provide a safe place to set up if not always a view. I was lucky on this day. From a country church parking lot I had pulled into, I saw late afternoon shadows laying across the September landscape, and a lovely grey farmhouse catching the last of the light on its roof.
