In this painting, I explore the theme of Canada in the Fall through both a natural and symbolic lens. The scene depicts Canadian geese flying across a vast body of water toward the distant Toronto Skyline, with the CN Tower marking the city as distinctly Canadian. Traditionally, geese migrate south as the seasons change, but in this piece, they are "Heading North". This reversal speaks to the current political and social climate, both in Canada and beyond our borders. The geese become metaphors for resilience, independence and the search for safety and stability in uncertain times. "Heading North" invites viewers to reflect on the meaning of home, belonging and direction. In this painting, I explore the theme of Canada in the Fall through both a natural and symbolic lens.
