Media: Acrylic Layered metallic paint
Size: 16x20 in
Layers of metallic paint and acrylic paint. Part of my marble horse series. The blue is a metallic paint called Peacock Blue. This also has gold leaf. My first attempt at adding gold leaf. My initial idea was to lay it down like a beam of light, but I decided to try the application in a different way than how it should be applied. I often mess around to see if there are other ways to do things. I am actually glad that the "beam" didn't work. It came out more random. The white you see was a late addition to cause the horse's shoulder to appear more forward and the head to appear further back. It went on more opaque than I thought it would and it dried super fast. The scratch marks are my desperate attempt to remove the paint with my fingernails. It thought I had ruined it. Then, I realized...wait...that looks cool like that so I did more scratches on purpose.
