Painted this en plein air at a lake where I camped late this summer. Added a few finishing touches in the studio. The trees were already showing some fall colors. Across the lake, they seemed to float in and out of the mist arising from the water in the early morning. The sky was cloudy and overcast which gave the whole scene a somewhat ethereal look.
