A few years back, I was the Artist in Residence for Big Cypress National Preserve, a National Park in the Everglades, it was an amazing and inspiring experience. I spent my childhood in Miami, right on the border of the Everglades and have strong memories of the area. When I was the AIR, the park gave me a week survival course before they gave me a one person canoe to explore the mangrove tunnels and I often think of that adventure. This painting is inspired by this experience.
