I was the Artist in Residence for Tangier Island, a tiny strip of sand in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. I tried to paint a painting a day. This was painted looking south. Years ago there was woods on the southern end of the island, but in 1812 the British cut the woods down to build a fort and eventually erosion cut into the island. Tangier is 14 miles from the ferry that leaves from Crisfield. I was the Artist in Residence for Tangier Island, a tiny strip of sand in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay.
