This painting emerged from the memory of an adolescent black bear who once stalked the edges of my homestead.Since then, bear appears in my dreams and consciousness when themes of protection and boundaries surface. These visitations have become guides, calling me into presence and helping me discern when to stand my ground and when to retreat.This painting honors that encounter--the membrane between wild and domestic, between fear and respect, between what we control and what we cannot. In these brushstrokes lives my reverence for bear--teacher of boundaries, embodied power, and mirror to our most primal selves.
