In this painting, I explore the moment when wilderness and awareness meet. This bear emerged from a dream after several encounters near my homestead where these magnificent creatures reminded me of nature's raw authenticity. The circular form represents the boundary between our domesticated lives and wild consciousness—a permeable membrane we cross in moments of true presence. The warm copper and rose tones of the bear contrast with the cool turquoise surroundings, embodying that tension between power and vulnerability that bears have come to symbolize for me. Through these brushstrokes, I honor bear as keeper of ancient wisdom—the guardian who teaches us to respect boundaries while remembering our own wild nature.
