I saw this scene on a recent trip to the Black Hills. Even though it is winter there was no snow on the ground and the pink sunset cast a glow on the bare winter ground. I did this painting in thick oil paint on a 10x8 masonite board. I like using thick oil paint as it gives paintings a luscious texture that can’t be replicated in a print. This painting is unframed but could easily be framed by placing it in a standard photo frame with the glass removed as shown in the second photo.
