I usually only paint from life, my own sketches or photos, but when my son traveled to Greece and sent me several photos of the the blue domes of the Greek Orthodox Church there I couldn't resist translating them into a painting!! I did this painting in thick oil paint on a 11x14 masonite board. I like using thick oil paint as it gives paintings a luscious texture that can’t be replicated in a print. This painting is unframed but could easily be framed by placing it in a standard photo frame with the glass removed as shown in the second photo.
