Everything about this scene was melancholy-the old, weathered barn, the gray sky, the bare trees! This is the time of the year when the lovely fall leaves have gone but we are not yet blessed with the beauty of snow!! I did this painting in thick oil paint on a 10x8 masonite board. I like using thick oil paint as it gives paintings a luscious texture that can’t be replicated in a print. This painting is unframed but could easily be framed by placing it in a standard photo frame with the glass removed as shown in the second photo.
