This painting will form part of an upcoming exhibition celebrating International Women's Day. I chose this one for the exhibition because it honours the quiet strength, resilience, grace and dignity of women whose labour and presence shape everyday life yet often go unacknowledged. It also highlights the remarkable ability of women to juggle multiple responsibilities in their daily lives; something all women can resonate with. The intricate trellis work and beautiful red sandstone of the Amber Fort at Jaipur in India which was built in 1952 were the inspiration behind this large composition work which took many months to complete !
