This painting was inspired by a wonderful island hoping trip to Greece with friends a few years ago. I was drawn by the colour composition of the octopus hanging out to dry with their unique shapes and flowing tentacles against the turquoise sea and distant islands. I can almost feel myself back on the sea and taste it all over again just by looking at this work! It is a tradition around the Greek Islands to hang their daily catch of octopus out to dry at daybreak. First they batter their catch of Octopus against rocks (😬) to expel all the water and foam before hanging them up. They leave them basking in the Mediterranean Sun and warmth until early evening and you can see them everywhere. The sun-drying intensifies their When grilled the flavour is truly wonderful… 😋👌🇬🇷 This painting was inspired by a wonderful island hoping trip to Greece with friends a few years ago.
