The Barbary Apes are a part of Gibraltar's Heritage; in this painting the ape is sitting on a wall overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar with Morocco in the distance. Legend has it that as long as there are Barbary Apes on the Rock, Gibraltar will remain British. A Yellow Legged Seagull, looks eagerly at the bread hoping he can have a peck!
