The goldcrest is Europe's tiniest bird, weighing just 5-7 grams, about the same as a teaspoon of sugar, yet it migrates thousands of miles and can survive winters that would kill much larger birds! It took me a while to get a photo clear enough to paint from, as they hardly ever sit still for more than half a second, bouncing around bushes looking for insects.
