Each summer we travel to upper Michigan to spend time at the family cabin. And one of the best parts is getting to reconnect with whichever cousins happen to be around at the same time. There is a long line of cabins that house various branches of a complicated family tree. Our children are the fifth generation in our branch to visit, and there are sixth generation cousins now running around the beach that great-great-grandparents bought in the early 1900's. Since we have moved many times, we love that our kids feel connected and grounded by this patch of land. In a world that seems fragmented, connection is ever more important and treasured. I'm grateful for a place where that can happen. Each summer we travel to upper Michigan to spend time at the family cabin.
