I walk down to the lake in the shadows of the trees, and step out onto a beach flooded with moonlight. The mist of cool water and warm air rises and catches the moon's light, drawing a thin gauze across the landscape. Water laps, wind rustles through pine, a loon calls its plaintive call, and I feel like I can fly. The night is intoxicating in its beauty. For a time I drink it all in, and then turn to walk back up the path to the cabin, ready to sleep.
