Sea, sky, rock and pines sum up much of the rugged coastline of Maine. This view is from a friend's little bit of heaven on Swan's Island. This view looks across to the land her parents left to a land conservancy, creating a place where locals can walk through pristine pine woods and down to the rocks along the water. Because it is on an island, it is never very crowded. I love standing on this point, taking in the ever-changing, yet timeless scene in front of me, imagining the generations of people who have loved it and called it home.
