Our group of plein air painters was allowed to visit this private estate, filled with quiet and beautiful pockets of wonder. From this stately folly to cow sculptures and multiple koi ponds, it is a place that carries surprise at every turn. I loved the sight of this laced metal structure sited for views from all directions. It felt timeless and fun as I gazed on it to try to capture its form. Setting focal points in even a small garden can help divide a space into intimate rooms. While this was on a grand scale, it helped define the space and make it more approachable .
